John is President and founder of Boston-based RailRiders Adventure Clothing, is an avid outdoorsman and visionary clothing designer. With a background in competitive sailboat racing, he launched RailRiders in 1991 to cater to the sailing community, and then later branched out to other adventuring sectors, such as expeditionary travel and adventure racing. RailRiders' pedigree as a top-flight clothing line is reflected by the kind of adventurers who have come to depend upon the brand. In the world of adventure racing, RailRiders dominates the field: over one-third of all teams in the Eco-Challenge adventure race in Borneo competed in RailRiders, and was worn by the world-champion adventure racing team, Team Eco-Internet.

RailRiders has also scored victories at the Raid, Elf, EMS, and countless other events. In 1999, RailRiders published its first consumer catalog, which was later nominated as a finalist by Catalog Age in the best new consumer catalog category.
