Bill Bernstein
Internationally known photographer Bill Bernstein has been shooting masters of art and
commerce since his start at the Village Voice in New York City. His easy going style
and "quick study persona" has gained him a reputation for being a foremost world-class
portrait shooter.
From high-end studios, to the corner of a small makeup trailer on location (where he captured a major World Tour image of Sir Paul McCartney), Bill thrives on making things work. On a recent shoot Bill accompanied a group from The Starkey Foundation ("So The World May Hear") on a mission to Mexico City to give away hearing aids to the underprivileged. Bernstein set up a makeshift studio and captured the faces and expressions of the people as they were able to hear for the first time in their lives. In his early years he developed a body of photographs from the last days of the disco scene, which was published as the book "Nightdancin'" (Ballantine Books). |
Bernstein's work has been seen in publications around the world and he has worked with
editorial, public relations, corporate, music and advertising clients- including National
Geographic TV, Time Magazine, Elle, New York Philharmonic, Warner Brothers, HBO and U2.
Bernstein's association with Sir Paul McCartney began in 1989 which led to the collaboration and publication of the book with McCartney called "Each One Believing" (Chronicle Books, November 2004). This book documents McCartney's 2002-2003 World Tour- from Russia to Los Angeles, from Japan to Mexico, and all points in between. His gallery show featuring over 40 images from Sir Paul's World Tour has been on tour across the USA in 2006 and continues in 2007. The Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC will present his show in March-April 2007. Prints are for sales and signed by both Bernstein and McCartney. He lives in New York with his wife, and son Jackson.
